Building maintenance is an extensive and versatile field with diverse, multi-level work tasks. Building maintenance professionals work in property managing, maintenance, repair and customer service tasks. Building maintenance professionals usually work within property service and building maintenance companies, municipalities and industrial enterprises. Tasks include maintaining yard areas, small maintenance and repair work and monitoring building technology in accordance with service agreements and descriptions.

Building maintenance professionals have versatile foundation skills in building maintenance. They are able to apply their skills and knowledge to varying situations of working life. The work requires an independent and responsible attitude towards work, technical skills, and collaboration and customer service skills. This competition is an individual competition.

Skill requirements

The competition tasks are based on the requirements of the grade Satisfactory (T1) of the vocational qualification in Building Maintenance Technology, study programme Building Maintenance (2015). The competition focuses on tasks related to building management, maintenance, repair and customer service. The competition tasks have been designed in close co-operation with working life, and the tasks are based on its requirements. Some of the competition tasks will be given in advance and some at the competition site. The competition tasks can be used as a vocational skills demonstration.
